Your sump pump is a pump that is installed most commonly at the lowest point in your basement, acting as a collector for any water that finds itself into perforated drain pipes in and around your home. They only turn on when the water inside reaches a pre specified level and then they activate in order to prevent basement flooding. Because they’re a.) not regularly visible and b.) not regularly used, it’s easy to forget to check on your sump pump to make sure it’s performing properly. Like any other piece of machinery with moving parts, sump pumps can wear out over time, especially when they’re not receiving proper maintenance. That’s why the experts at Applewood Plumbing have the dedicated training they do – so they can help you both with maintenance assistance and sump pump repair.

I’m Handyman Donald and I like to fix things. Even as a kid, I wouldn’t toss out broken toys. I’d take them apart to see what made them tick, then figure how to bring them back to life. From toys, I graduated to cars, boats and motorcycles, then airplanes and missiles in the military. Now I work on houses, and I say with confidence, “You break it, I’ll fix it”

Had a clogged drain line in my upstairs bathroom. Called John Moore Services and made an appointment for the next day. Edwin G. was the Field Technician to come out to my home. I explained to him the problem and then he explained the options to me. I told him to go with the best option. Drain line was unclogged. He was very professional and very knowledgeable. He explained what he was going to do and also took pictures of the repairs once he was done. Overall it was a great experience and I have to give Edwin G. and the John Moore Services a 5-Star for a job well done. Couldn't ask for anything better, and will be using them in the future. Thank you Edwin G./John Moore Services.
So now I'm ready to apply heat and actually solder the joint. Again when you're using a torch, always have the fire extinguisher handy, especially if you're not a professional. Yes, I know how to use the torch better than most people that do not use it every day, but I still have a fire extinguisher right over within five feet of me. Okay. So keeping in mind now when we activate the flame on this, we don't need to blast it with as much flame as we can possibly get. There is a regulator right here that I can adjust that flame. This is an excessive flame for half-inch. It's too much heat. It will heat up too fast, and you'll see the joint actually smoke. That's not necessary. I'm only soldering half-inch. This would be a more appropriate flame for three-quarter or one-inch or something like that. So I'm going to turn this down. You can hear it. Now I've got my silver solder. One of my little quirks, I like to actually drag the emery cloth along the edge of the solder to make sure that there'

When a person has a blockage in their sewage system they often try to fix it themselves by adding an acid or a base such as Drano in an attempt to dissolve or dislodge the problem. These chemicals can get into the plumbers eyes [14]when the sewage is splashed during the repair. The plumbers skin during the repair does come into contact with the sewage water.[15] The owner of the toilet might not report to the plumber they have already tried Drano a highly caustic base .

plumbers must be asked directly what they charge hourly and if that is in addition to a service charge. The two are separate and I think they have gotten away with outrageous charges because of the potential of water damaging homeowner structures.   I had a plumber (not Home advisor) come and replace a part in my kitchen sink that was under warranty---the spray nozzle had been leaking...He charged me $85.00 for 15 minutes of work and I will never use Mr King again.

He showed up on time and did a great job on our backed up sewer lines for a very reasonable price. I am going to have some other works also done by them, and will review on that as well. Read more

Our Field Technician Mark W was thorough, professional and very helpful. He snaked our drain from our washing machine to the end of pipe and all was done quickly, very professionally, the work area was cleaned and he provided valuable information on how to keep our drain clean for the future. We have used John Moore for complete A/C and heating installation to routine plumbing needs and could not be happier with their overall quality of service and pricing. Would highly recommend their services to anyone, especially my family and friends.
Electric hot water heaters use elements to heat the water, most have two. There are also thermostats that control them. If any of these parts fail, you will either have no hot water or reduced quantities available. Some simple electrical tests can help you to locate the mis-behaving part. See 'Electric Water Heater Thermostats and 'Water Heater Element Testing' for more information.

All-n-One Plumbing started out with one technician running the business out of his home. Over the years we have grown to become a full plumbing team, with a talented full-time staff dedicated to helping our customers have the best experience possible. We are small enough to be able to give every customer the personal attention they deserve, but also have the manpower to quickly dispatch a technician to your door when urgent problems occur. Our goal is to return you to your normal routine as quickly as possible without compromising quality!

Surprises are great when it comes to birthdays and anniversaries. But no one likes surprises like plumbing emergencies, especially when it comes time to pay to have them fixed. Plumbing service and repair can be expensive. That’s why when our technicians come to your home or business they take a look at your whole plumbing system. That way they can let you know what’s really a problem now and what could be the start of a problem in the future. More importantly, it’s our way of accurately diagnosing the root cause of the problem. This accurate diagnosis leads to accurate, and fair pricing. After we’ve diagnosed the situation, we give you options from which you can choose. That way you choose what work you have us do and you know right up front how much it will cost. As an added bonus, we offer you several ways to pay.
I wanted to let you know that we were extremely happy with our first encounter with Pro-Service Plumbing. I called this morning and Kelly was extremely courteous and helpful. She had Jeromie at our house within two hours! Not only did he complete the job in record time but he discovered that the previous plumber we had out yesterday (who told us that we had a broken pipe on our main line) had misdiagnosed the problem. The first plumber said they were ordering parts and told us it could not be repaired until next week. They were going to charge us over $800.00 for a loose connection issue. Meanwhile, our front yard was flooding. Pro-Service fees were fair and reasonable. You will be our “go-to” plumbers from now on. Thank you!
Another way to avoid a service call from your plumber is to make sure the outside faucets are turned off in the winter and make sure you disconnect the outside hoses. You need to shut the water off from the inside. Then, open the valve on the outside to let the water that’s in there drain out—you switch both of them to the opposite direction so one is always closed and one is always open. We have to fix tons of these in the spring mostly because people leave their outside hoses connected and they freeze up. The repair could cost $100-$200 or more. Another tip would be if you’re going away for any length of time, like on vacation, turn off your water. If on any of those days the temperature drops below freezing, have someone check in on your house. I’ve been called to homes where the family returned from vacation, and there was water flooding out from the front door.
The word "plumber" dates from the Roman Empire.[3] The Latin for lead is plumbum. Roman roofs used lead in conduits and drain pipes[4] and some were also covered with lead, lead was also used for piping and for making baths.[5] In medieval times anyone who worked with lead was referred to as a plumber as can be seen from an extract of workmen fixing a roof in Westminster Palace and were referred to as plumbers "To Gilbert de Westminster, plumber, working about the roof of the pantry of the little hall, covering it with lead, and about various defects in the roof of the little hall".[6] Thus a person with expertise in working with lead was first known as a Plumbarius which was later shortened to plumber.
Since 1991, we have provided our customers with dependable plumbing services—everything from replacing or installing kitchen and bathroom faucets, water heaters, hose bibs, and ice makers to whole or partial house re-piping, installing pressure reducing valves (PRVs) to aid in water conservation efforts, repairing leaks in water lines, or providing all new plumbing for remodels, room additions, or new house construction. We charge by the job, not by the hour.
Most large cities today pipe solid wastes to sewage treatment plants in order to separate and partially purify the water, before emptying into streams or other bodies of water. For potable water use, galvanized iron piping was commonplace in the United States from the late 1800s until around 1960. After that period, copper piping took over, first soft copper with flared fittings, then with rigid copper tubing utilizing soldered fittings.
