When a person has a blockage in their sewage system they often try to fix it themselves by adding an acid or a base such as Drano in an attempt to dissolve or dislodge the problem. These chemicals can get into the plumbers eyes when the sewage is splashed during the repair. The plumbers skin during the repair does come into contact with the sewage water. The owner of the toilet might not report to the plumber they have already tried Drano a highly caustic base .

Once this is done, it would be prudent to use either pliers or tongs to remove the objects! FLUSH YOUR DRAIN: After removing objects, the next step is to flush your drain with HOT water and soap. So we start by cleaning the joints to be soldered. Okay. In this case we're going to use these two pieces of pipe. You just kind of wrap it around, and you're going to clean it. Be judicious with the cleaning. Okay. I don't want to see any black marks on that recently sanded pipe. That's carbon. That will cause a leak. That's another reason I'm wearing gloves. People might call me a primadonna for doing so, but it actually keeps the oils in your hands off of the joint. This is not conducive to soldering. The oils in your hands are not conducive to soldering. So now we're going to take our fitting and our fitting brush, okay, just a wire brush. This one's kind of beat up, but it will still get the job done. Again same idea, you twist it around in there until you can see your reflection. So we've got a nice, clean 90-degree elbow. The next thing you want to do, again the gloves come in, they're very imperative here.

Water pressure should be checked at least once a year or whenever you have a plumber in your home. When we visit a doctor, no matter the reason, they will always check a patient’s blood pressure. Water pressure should be treated similarly. A pressure-reducing device in proper working order is incredibly important to maintaining a healthy water delivery system in your home. Water pressure should never exceed 80 psi. Anything reading above 80 psi. is an indication of a failing water pressure-reducing device and should be addressed as soon as possible. If you're unsure about your water pressure, we can visit your home and use a gauge to measure your incoming water pressure for you. Then we can discuss any options that might be available to give you peace of mind and ensure a healthy water system.

Water systems of ancient times relied on gravity for the supply of water, using pipes or channels usually made of clay, lead, bamboo, wood, or stone. Hollowed wooden logs wrapped in steel banding were used for plumbing pipes, particularly water mains. Logs were used for water distribution in England close to 500 years ago. US cities began using hollowed logs in the late 1700s through the 1800s. Today, most plumbing supply pipe is made out of steel, copper, and plastic; most waste (also known as "soil") out of steel, copper, plastic, and cast iron.
