So now I'm ready to apply heat and actually solder the joint. Again when you're using a torch, always have the fire extinguisher handy, especially if you're not a professional. Yes, I know how to use the torch better than most people that do not use it every day, but I still have a fire extinguisher right over within five feet of me. Okay. So keeping in mind now when we activate the flame on this, we don't need to blast it with as much flame as we can possibly get. There is a regulator right here that I can adjust that flame. This is an excessive flame for half-inch. It's too much heat. It will heat up too fast, and you'll see the joint actually smoke. That's not necessary. I'm only soldering half-inch. This would be a more appropriate flame for three-quarter or one-inch or something like that. So I'm going to turn this down. You can hear it. Now I've got my silver solder. One of my little quirks, I like to actually drag the emery cloth along the edge of the solder to make sure that there'

Plastic pipe is in wide use for domestic water supply and drain-waste-vent (DWV) pipe. Principal types include: Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) was produced experimentally in the 19th century but did not become practical to manufacture until 1926, when Waldo Semon of BF Goodrich Co. developed a method to plasticize PVC, making it easier to process. PVC pipe began to be manufactured in the 1940s and was in wide use for Drain-Waste-Vent piping during the reconstruction of Germany and Japan following WWII. In the 1950s, plastics manufacturers in Western Europe and Japan began producing acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) pipe. The method for producing cross-linked polyethylene (PEX) was also developed in the 1950s. Plastic supply pipes have become increasingly common, with a variety of materials and fittings employed.
I thought that my sump pump had ended its life and needed to be replaced. The contractor I found through Home Adviser came out the following day and arrived reasonably promptly. The technician tested the pump and it wasn't responding. He then checked the breaker panel and all seemed well. However he checked to see if power was reaching the outlet, it wasn't so he tripped some breakers and reset them and the power to my pump came on and the pump works so a replacement wasn't necessary. He charged $75.00 which I think was reasonable for a call-out fee and time spent.
Okay. Let's talk about fixing water lines. Depending on what region of the country you're in, you may see PEX tubing, which is a type of plastic or something, but in the five boroughs of New York City it is exclusively copper. If it's not, you're not legal. So this is what we call half-inch, indicating the size of the pipe, half-inch type L. L is the indicator of whether you can use it for potable water, potable being clean, domestic drinking water, showering water. Okay. This is what you see throughout the city, under your sinks, everything else. This is a fairly thick-walled copper pipe, and it's easy to repair unless you have something bad happen.
Excellent service! I saw a water leaking out, called the plumber, fixed the damage on the pipes, charged me a fair rate for the job they did, and there are no more leaks. The plumber was efficient and clean during and after doing his job which I totally didn't expect. In case my relatives or friends asked for a plumber, SG1Plumber.com will get my vote! Thanks!
Air conditioning systems in Sarasota, Bradenton, Longboat Key and the surrounding area homes and businesses are working hard for at least 8 months of the year. The extended run-time of your home’s heat pump or air conditioning system means that scheduling to have your system serviced is one of the most important appointments you can make to keep you and your family cool throughout the year. A lack of maintenance is the reason for most air conditioning repair visits. During a service or maintenance visit, we will often find small items that need to be tightened, replaced, or lubricated that could otherwise develop into a larger repair. During an AC tuneup or service visit, we will thoroughly clean and check your whole system. A short list of what we review includes: blower motor * thermostat * indoor coil * condensate drain * condenser coil * electrical wiring * contactors * bearings * capacitors * air filters * fan blade * ductwork for energy loss * compressor

Experience the comfort and convenience of hot water on demand. Lee Company can install a tankless water system in your home that provides never-ending hot water whenever and wherever you need it. Tankless water heaters heat water without the use of a storage tank. When a hot water tap is turned on, cold water travels through a pipe into the unit. Either a gas burner or an electric element heats the water. As a result, tankless water heaters deliver a constant supply of hot water. This technology helps reduce your electric bill by lowering energy consumption.
My plumbing experience was to have the plumbing disconnected under the sink so the counter top and new sink could be installed. I thought the service of $115 was high, but usually if there is an additional fees, it is usually rolled into the cost of repairs or labor. This company also charged 3.75 % for putting it on a credit card, which was not mentioned until I received the invoice in the mail after paying on the phone.
There’s often an Allen wrench that comes with the garbage disposal. I keep it under the sink. When the thing jams, follow the directions in the manual, and I won’t need to come out. Another plumbing tip, don’t believe the myth about putting lemon peels in the disposal to make it smell better. That will just make it jam faster. These are the things you should never pour down the drain.
Most large cities today pipe solid wastes to sewage treatment plants in order to separate and partially purify the water, before emptying into streams or other bodies of water. For potable water use, galvanized iron piping was commonplace in the United States from the late 1800s until around 1960. After that period, copper piping took over, first soft copper with flared fittings, then with rigid copper tubing utilizing soldered fittings.
