Then again, if you don’t have the time, tools, or inclination to do your own plumbing repairs, you can hire a pro. A plumber can handle nearly any problem that involves pipes, from replacing a garbage disposal to unclogging a bathtub drain, but, if your problem is a stopped-up drain, you’re usually better off calling a drain-clearing service because these are generally less expensive.
No plumber is going to come right out and explain that they don’t have the required license to work for you. So if you know someone who is a great plumber, but they don’t have a license, hire them at your own risk. Did you know that there is technology that exists that allows plumbers to check the condition of your pipes using in-pipe video inspections? Cool, right? A video camera pipe inspection, like those available from Applewood Plumbing, allows for a real-time visual inspection of underground sewer lines and piping to determine their interior condition. This process uses a flexible fiber optic cable with a specially designed high-resolution video camera on its tip that’s inserted into the pipe. Once it’s pushed through, a waterproof camera equipped with powerful lights records its journey and subsequent findings. This allows plumbing professionals to learn exactly what you need repaired or replaced in order to get your home plumbing system at a premium performance level.
Water systems of ancient times relied on gravity for the supply of water, using pipes or channels usually made of clay, lead, bamboo, wood, or stone. Hollowed wooden logs wrapped in steel banding were used for plumbing pipes, particularly water mains. Logs were used for water distribution in England close to 500 years ago. US cities began using hollowed logs in the late 1700s through the 1800s. Today, most plumbing supply pipe is made out of steel, copper, and plastic; most waste (also known as "soil")[21] out of steel, copper, plastic, and cast iron.[21]
Thank you, thank you, thank you for sharing your knowledge. I just replaced our shower cartridge and our leak is FIXED!!!!!!! Your instructional was clear and concise. I did purchase 2 cartridges first, because I did not know the type it was and could not pull it out without the plastic cover it comes with. Fortunately, it was one of the two. By the way I'm a 63 year old woman. If I can do it, anyone with internet and a little patience and an hour can do it.....

Experience the comfort and convenience of hot water on demand. Lee Company can install a tankless water system in your home that provides never-ending hot water whenever and wherever you need it. Tankless water heaters heat water without the use of a storage tank. When a hot water tap is turned on, cold water travels through a pipe into the unit. Either a gas burner or an electric element heats the water. As a result, tankless water heaters deliver a constant supply of hot water. This technology helps reduce your electric bill by lowering energy consumption.

I wanted to let you know that we were extremely happy with our first encounter with Pro-Service Plumbing. I called this morning and Kelly was extremely courteous and helpful. She had Jeromie at our house within two hours! Not only did he complete the job in record time but he discovered that the previous plumber we had out yesterday (who told us that we had a broken pipe on our main line) had misdiagnosed the problem. The first plumber said they were ordering parts and told us it could not be repaired until next week. They were going to charge us over $800.00 for a loose connection issue. Meanwhile, our front yard was flooding. Pro-Service fees were fair and reasonable. You will be our “go-to” plumbers from now on. Thank you!

PVC/CPVC – rigid plastic pipes similar to PVC drain pipes but with thicker walls to deal with municipal water pressure, introduced around 1970. PVC stands for polyvinyl chloride, and it has become a common replacement for metal piping. PVC should be used only for cold water, or for venting. CPVC can be used for hot and cold potable water supply. Connections are made with primers and solvent cements as required by code.[22]
