On 3/9 my husband attempted to put our “new” dishwasher in. Before we knew it we had a hot water gusher going in our kitchen that we could not stop. We called our usual plumber and he could not come for two days. So we looked online and called Pro-Service and spoke to Kelly. She listened and while she was locating someone to come help us she gave us advice on shutting down the gusher. She sent Tommy and kept us updated as to his timing which was very quick! He shut down the gusher and replace the broken valve so we asked him to come back and install the dishwasher. On 3/10 he returned and installed the dishwasher which was defective and showed us problem areas. He was quick and efficient and the price for both repairs was very reasonable. I would highly recommend this company and its employees. I have already recommended them to my friends.
Wish these guys would have turned out to be as good as some of these reviews...they sent out a technician who gave me instructions that turned out to be false. Plumbers Service just said "sorry our guy is kind of new and shouldn't have told you to do that." That seems to be the catch phase for any company that won't take responsibility for their actions or words. When do you know if anyone is telling the truth?? How can you trust the advice they give you? Not using these guys but good luck to those of you that do...very sad that Jeff wouldn't make this right.
Hello I had a plumber do an estimate for me to replace our copper pipes with plastic as we have no existing walls up in our basement yet...pretty basic job... so we figured we could upgrade as we do live in Northern Ontario and it does tend to get quite cold here in the winters. We dont have any existing problems with our plumbing right now just figured it would be good time to do the job and perhaps change the pipes to 3 quarter inch for faster flow. Well I never thought in all my life I would get an estimate back that would state $350.00 an hour in labor...yes that is correct $350.00 an hour...estimated 10 hours for the job to be completed. So he quoted me $3500.00 for labor alone.. not supplies? Well needless to say I will be happy with my half inch copper pipes and will happily wait for my bathtub to fill up at a slower pace. Just wanted to know what your thoughts are on this $350.00 an hour quote? Thank you and enjoy your day.
Noticing high water pressure at plumbing fixtures in your home? Water pressure in the home is similar to blood pressure in the body - it needs to be regulated to keep the system healthy. When unregulated water pressure causes damage to the plumbing system, this can lead to emergency plumbing calls, like flooding. Having a water pressure regulator installed is MUCH more cost-effective than mold remediation or replacing flooring or drywall! So we recommend installing or repairing water pressure regulators to protect your whole home.
We called Pete after backed sewage started leaking onto our bathroom floor (Gross!). It being Saturday morning at 9AM we fully expected to not be able to get someone to our home for at least a few hours. Luckily Pete proved us wrong. He was there within the hour and was able to fix the backup immediately. He explained exactly what was wrong and his prices were more than reasonable. I highly recommend and will be using him again.

I guess all good things must come to an end. After a few good experiences we scheduled them again for the annual snaking of the drain. The first appointment they cancelled a couple of hours before the appointment, they said they were stuck at another job - it happens. Rescheduled for a few days later, they showed up and said they would not move the appliances to get to the sewage line [they always did this in the past]. Then they said only Mike could move appliances. So we rescheduled for when Mike got back from vacation. Then just before Mike was supposed to show up, Mike called and said he wouldn't move appliances anymore either. Thanks for jerking us around for 2 weeks.

Master plumbers on construction jobs may be involved with developing blueprints that show the placement of all the pipes and fixtures. Their input helps ensure that a structure’s plumbing meets building codes, stays within budget, and works well with the location of other features, such as electric wires. Many diagrams are now created digitally with the use of Building Information Modeling (BIM), which allows a building’s physical systems to be planned and coordinated across occupations.

Garbage disposers usually come with an Allen key. Find a good place to store it, and when the disposer jams, you can follow the directions in the owner’s manual to fix it yourself. It’s as simple as inserting and twisting, and doing this yourself will save you the hassle and cash of a service call to the plumber. Speaking of tool storage, check out these clever tool storage ideas.
There’s often an Allen wrench that comes with the garbage disposal. I keep it under the sink. When the thing jams, follow the directions in the manual, and I won’t need to come out. Another plumbing tip, don’t believe the myth about putting lemon peels in the disposal to make it smell better. That will just make it jam faster. These are the things you should never pour down the drain.
The difference between pipes and tubes is simply in the way it is sized. PVC pipe for plumbing applications and galvanized steel pipe for instance, are measured in IPS (iron pipe size). Copper tube, CPVC, PeX and other tubing is measured nominally, which is basically an average diameter. These sizing schemes allow for universal adaptation of transitional fittings. For instance, 1/2" PeX tubing is the same size as 1/2" copper tubing. 1/2" PVC on the other hand is not the same size as 1/2" tubing, and therefore requires either a threaded male or female adapter to connect them. When used in agricultural irrigation, the singular form "pipe" is often used as a plural.
